Traveling together as a couple is an experience like no other. It is one of the most exciting things you can do in life. After all, you are spending time with the person you love. You’ll get to see all the good things as well as the bad things that will happen along a trip.
You’ll sense a type of joy knowing that you and your partner are getting the chance to see new things, learn new cultures, and best of all create amazing memories together that’ll last you a life time.
When I was traveling a few years ago, I took my girlfriend on a trip to California as we had never been there before. We got to do so many things and bond over the experience of the trip. It was something I never imagined of doing ever before. We got to grow as individuals and learn more about each other that we never knew before.
Even though i’m not with her no more, it doesn’t take away the precious moments and memories I gained from the trip.
Now is traveling together still worth it?
Of course it is!
Even if your relationship ends up splitting apart sometime down the road in the future, that doesn’t take away the things you have done and experienced in the past.
Traveling together as a couple is simply one of the best choices I have ever made. And I think anybody who has a significant other should do the same as well.
Now I know some people out there who thinks that traveling together as a couple can either “Make or Break” the relationship. And to be honest, It probably is the case.
After all, you are going to be with the same person every minute of the hour of the day. You’ll get a chance to learn everything about them. All the good things as well as the bad things, you will go through it together. However it’s these experiences that’ll make your relationship grow and become stronger than ever.
Which is why, if you are planning on going on a trip with your significant other, I have some tips and advice for you that’ll make your trip even better.
Enjoy the Experience
Traveling together can be a fun and amazing thing to do. However you must not forget why you are traveling in the first place. And that is to have fun and take a breather from life. The world has so much to offer and both of you will want to be there taking everything in. So enjoy your time by having fun and doing what makes you happy.
When you are able to spend your vacation together in a happy mood, things will start to flow a lot better.
Be Able To Tease Each Other
Couples should have fun sometimes. And what better way to have fun than to poke fun of each other. As long as you are playful and not actually being serious about things, everything will be fine and dandy.
Stuff like “You’re slow! No, not you again! I just saw you a few minutes ago. I can eat faster than you! etc. Okay, my examples are kind of lame, but you get what i’m talking about.
But by doing these things, it’ll be able to spark a conversation that’ll get you to be in a joyful mood that’ll carry on throughout the day.
Get Yourself Some Alone Time
This is probably one of the most important things during travel.
You want to be able to give yourself and them some alone time to do what you both want to do. Most of the time, couple’s don’t really do this as often as they should which takes away some of the fun from the vacation. Sure doing things together can be great. However there are sometimes where you just want to do things by yourself.
Plus it works out great if there is an event where both you and your partners want to do different things. For instance, you might want to go to the beach and surf, while your partner just wants to go to the bar and get a drink.
By allowing yourself some alone time, you are able to do certain things whereas you wouldn’t have done if you would have gone with your partner.
Do Things Together
Now I know the above post said to get some alone time for yourself. However that is only for certain times and situations. Obviously it’s not for the entire length of the trip.
For the majority of your trip, you are most likely going to be spending time together with your significant other. Which means you both will want to do things together.
When you both do things together, you will be able to create lasting memories that’ll be with you for a long time. Not only that but you are also able to push each other through hurdles and motivate you through the tough times.
When I use to travel with my ex girlfriend, we would always help each other out by giving each other challenges to do and we each tried to accomplish them. Things like hiking up a tall hill, we would usually keep pushing each other to keep going and not stop. We would reward each other when we finally went up top the hill.
It’s things like this that makes traveling together as a couple fun.
Compromise Over things
Sometimes when you are out traveling around with your significant other, you’ll find times where you will get into arguments over little things. Stuff like where to go eat, whose going to shower first etc. Instead, why don’t you make a compromise. Let each other know what you each want and try to make a decision that will make both of you happy.
After all, you can’t just rely on one person to make all the decisions. Being in a relationship means both parties have to have a say in the matter.
Have Each Others Interest At Heart
Sometimes having the other persons best interest in mind can be very beneficial.
There are many times when one partner wants to do something but the other partner is reluctant on doing.
For instance, there was a time I wanted to just sleep in. However my ex wanted to wake up early and watch the sunrise. Because I cared for her a lot, I put my thoughts to the side and got up to go watch the sunrise with her.
It’s these little things that you do which can definitely make the trip a lot more worthwhile.
Plus it also helps if both of you have similar interests.
Take A Break
Traveling around can be a tiring thing to do. After all, you are out and about the entire day, it can definitely take a toll on you. Which is why sometimes during the travel, you should just take a break and chill. After all, one of the most common culprits of getting into arguments or fights is from being tired or too stressed out.
So be sure to watch each other carefully and see if one of you is getting too tired or stressed out.
It’s perfectly fine to take a break and relax. Even if it takes a whole day to unwind. Do whatever it needs to take to get rid of all that stress or tiredness.
Go On A Date
Now I know what you’re probably thinking. Isn’t going on a vacation together basically the same as going on a date every single day?
Well in all honesty, yes it is.
However if you’re going to be traveling for quite some time, than it might seem more like a normal routine than rather a date.
Instead what you should do is try to be creative and find ways to have some special times together. For instance, why don’t you go out to eat at some fancy restaurant or you might even fancy a hike together to catch the sunset. Then end the day off with some nice champagne or stroll a long the beach.
The point is, there are many things you can do to spruce things up and make your day a more special day.
Traveling together as a couple can be very beneficial. Because you are spending so much of your time with each other all throughout the day, there are always things you can do which can make the day even better.
You will love and appreciate every moment together and these memories will last you a long time.
