In no particular order, here are the best places to go scuba diving in the world.

Hawaii

One of the best places to go scuba diving is in Hawaii. After all it is one of the world’s most remote archipelagos, which means there is so much to see and do underneath the waters. Here you’ll find an abundance of reefs and wildlife which makes scuba diving a perfect thing to do.

Underneath the waters you’ll be able to see all kinds of marine life like fishes, seals, manta rays, turtles and more. Heck, if you are lucky enough you might even spot a few humpback whales or whale sharks.

Also another reason why diving here is great is because the area north of the islands have been made into one of the largest marine reserves in the entire United States. Which means you’ll be able to have some really high quality scuba diving experiences.

The Red Sea is a beautiful place to go scuba diving at. With clear blue waters and marine life surrounding the entire area, it makes for a perfect place to explore undisturbed. Plus the corals here are incredibly vibrant and beautiful.

There are many areas where you can go scuba diving in around the Red Sea area with Thistlegorm being my favorite, where you can go explore an actual sunken ship and see the wreckages down below.

You probably already know this, but the Blue Hole in Belize is one of the most popular areas ever to go scuba diving in. It is basically a giant hole filled with a ton of different marine life swimming around.

The hole itself is about 300m in diameter and about 125m deep. You can actually see the giant hole when you are airborne which is insane. Plus the hole is actually a mix of both salt water and freshwater. You’ll be in salt water first and as you get to about 15m in, you’ll be able to hit some fresh water.

It’s a great place to scuba dive and explore as there is so many things to see. You can even swim along side some reef sharks and hammerheads if you are lucky.

Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is probably the most famous reef in the entire world. It is located off the coast of Australia and is the world’s longest reef. It contains all types of sea life and corals which are all so beautiful.

The reef itself reaches about 350,000 square kilometers long which means that it is insanely big. So big that you can even see it from outer space.

It is one of the most popular places in the world with over 2 million people visiting it each and every year. Because of this however, the reef has sustained quite a bit of damage. So if you want to check this place out and do some awesome scuba diving, you better do it soon before its too late.

When people think about Taiwan, they mainly think about night markets, Taipei 101, and a few other things. However not many people know that you can actually go scuba diving around this area. Which is a shame because Taiwan has quite a few areas where you can go scuba diving.

The area of Kenting is the most popular of the bunch as it has warm waters and boasts over 1100 marine species and 80 species of coral. You’ll be able to see fishes like barracuda, swordfishes and even humpback whales.

Theres other places too like Green Island, Orchid Island, Xiao Liu Qiu and more all offering beautiful places for you to scuba dive.

Doesn’t matter which place you decide to go scuba diving at, you will definitely love the experience.

Japan

As you know, Japan is a stratovolcanic archipelago that is made up of 6852 islands. Because of this, you can find a bunch of different areas for you to dive in.

For instance, the island of Shikoku offers you a chance to get in close encounters with dolphins or whales. However the most popular dive hub is in Okinawa since the area is made up of 3 archipelagos known as the Okinawa Islands. It is here where you can find warm waters with up to 50m of visibility as well as marine life like morayeels, damselfish and also humpback whales!

It’s truly a great experience and a dream come true for wildlife lovers.

Thailand

Just like other places, Thailand offers an amazing experience for scuba diving. You can find a number of different dive sites like Phuket, Ko Tao, Similan Islands and more all offering you this experience.

Now while all of the places each offer their own uniqueness and style, the most popular place to go scuba diving is most definitely Ko Tao. Here it doesn’t matter if your a beginner or even a seasoned veteran, you’ll be able to find many dive shops here offering you the ability to dive to your needs.

Malaysia

Malaysia has a bunch of awesome areas where you can go scuba diving in. One of which is Sipadan, whom is widely regarded to as being one of the best scuba diving sites in the entire world.

Sipadan is literally breaming with life. You will see all kinds of animals like turtles, fishes, mantas, dolphins, sharks, and more. You’ll even see cool cave systems to explore as well as vibrant corals growing from the floor. It is literally paradise for any scuba diver.

Once you visit this place, you will truly understand why this place is so amazing.

One good thing about Tropical Islands is that they are always surrounded by beautiful coral reefs. That stays true for Micronesia as the area is so beautiful.

Plus it isn’t just coral reefs you can find here, but also a ton of marine life and wreckages from WWII. It’s no wonder Micronesia is one of the top places to go scuba diving.

Also not too many people visit this area which means it can be a quiet time for you to explore all you want.

Bali, Indonesia

Bali might be known for its beautiful beaches, amazing surfing area, and a paradise for fun, but it is also known for being a world class diving site.

When you go scuba diving here, you’ll be able to see so many amazing things. Manta Rays, Sunfish, Schooling Fish, are just some of the marine life you’ll be encountering when you swim around. You’ll also be able to find a lot of colorful reefs that will leave you breathless. And depending on which area you decide to go scuba diving in, you might also be able to see some wreckage like the spectacular Liberty Wreck.

It’s a fun area where you can do all kinds of fun activities.

Phillippines

The Philippines is an amazing place to go to for some scuba diving adventures. There are many places you can visit to go scuba diving, but the most popular place of them all is definitely Boracay. There you’ll find all the usual things like marine life with eels and clownfish, beautiful corals, as well as beautiful blue waters.

It’s really an awesome experience you have to try. Plus, when you are done, you can go on the beach and have some fun.

Fiji which is known for many things is also one of the best diving locations in the world. For instance when you dive here, not only will you see an abundance of marine life, beautiful corals and nice blue waters, but you will also see wall dives, swim-throughs, caverns, canyons and much more.

Plus the strong currents of the outer reefs tend to bring in nutrient rich waters from all around which in turn helps lure in some of the most diverse marine life you have ever seen.

With over 390 coral species and 1200 fish species, it is basically a scuba divers dream come true with so many awesome things to see and do.
