How To Not Be Overwhelmed When Traveling

How are you suppose to not be overwhelmed when traveling around the world?

After all, anytime a person is about to travel, that time is probably the most stressful part of the trip.

There’s just so many things you have to think about and do.

Things like: What are you suppose to do first? What do you do after? Am I missing anything? Is everything going to be ok? Did I plan out the route correctly?

Whatever it is, there are countless amount of things to think about.

For those that are just starting out, will find out that it is a big life changing thing to do. And of course it might take its toll on you. Traveling for a long period of time isn’t easy or common. There are many things that you have to do in order to make your dreams come true.

You will find yourself stressed out and overwhelmed with responsibilities that you never would have imagined.

So how do you deal with this? How do you get over this feeling of not knowing where to start and when to finish?

Well i’ll tell you. Just don’t think about it.

Yes, you heard me. Don’t think about it. Just go with the flow.

All you have to do is just book your trip then go do something else. Because lets face it, you already booked your trip. There is no going back now. Just go watch some Netflix or TV or go out with some friends. Then you just have to wait till the date of your trip and you are flying off.

The reason for this is because it lets you be free of mind.

Often times when I hear people are wanting to travel, they would usually go do a whole bunch of research. Going on multiple websites reading all the stuff that they should do and not do. They will end up spending multiple hours or even days or weeks just trying to figure everything out.

They do all that before they even booked a ticket.

To me that is mind boggling.

Of course you’re going to be in over your head and overwhelmed. You are doing way too much. You shouldn’t be spending multiple days or weeks trying to figure things out.

Now I do agree that having the right information can be very beneficial to you. However too much information can just make your brain go crazy. It’ll leave you confused and conflicted with even more questions than you ever had before.

Now, I use to be like that back when I was younger. I constantly looked up sites to try to find as much information as I can. I wanted to know what things to pack, what things I will be doing, how much things are going to cost etc.. I had many different website pages opened up all trying to get information to fill my brain. I was always worried I was going to miss some information or something is going to go entirely wrong. I wanted the trip to be as perfect as it can be.

So, yes I definitely understand you. I know where you are coming from.

But after traveling for quite some time, I have learned from experience that the more you plan for something, the more overwhelmed you will be. You’ll end up with nothing but stress.

Now, i’m not saying that you shouldn’t plan for a trip. In fact planning for your trip is one of the best things that you can do. It’s fun and exciting and also lets you learn more about what you will be doing.

However the thing with planning is that sometimes you can over plan. When you over plan things, it can get very stressful and confusing.

Plus, your plans are never going to be set in stone. Things can always happen and you might end up not going along with the plan at all.

Things like better attractions, weather conditions, closures, etc can all affect your plans in which you would have to change it up anyways.

From my personal experience, I found out that if I let things flow naturally then things will end up a lot better.

For instance, many times I have planned to go somewhere but a local told me not to go there. That it was a tourist trap and I was better off doing something else. In the end, I listened to the local and had such a fun experience.

Basically what i’m trying to say is that you never know what’s going to happen. Your plans will constantly be changing.

So it’s best to just plan as little as possible and get a general idea of what you would like to go see and do. Then after that just let the flow carry you through the rest of the trip.

I can guarantee that you will almost never keep your original travel plans. Most travelers who travel don’t either.

If you still don’t know what to do well you can follow these steps:

After you book your flight, make a list of all the things that you need to get done before you go on the trip.

Once you have your list than you basically have an idea of what to do. Things like getting your visas done if needed, get travel insurance, luggage, etc..

I promise, it’s not as hard as it seems. It’s actually really easy.

Then re-check your list to see if everything is right and in order.

Once everything is ready, go find some information about the destination of where you are going to. Make a general idea of what you want to see and do and plan around it.

It won’t take long as you most likely can’t do or change anything about the plan until you actually start your trip. So all the pre-trip ideas and thinking shouldn’t take that long.

So just take a breather and relax.

Everything will be fine and settle itself out.

You’ll start to realize that traveling is actually a lot easier than it seems.
